Why I Built PrettyPost: Cleaner Screenshots for Better Sharing

We've all been there — you want to share a post from X (formerly Twitter) or LinkedIn, but the screenshot looks like it came from a 2012 Android. It’s cropped badly, full of noise, and makes your content look... unprofessional.

As someone who cares about content quality and first impressions, I got tired of seeing great posts shared with terrible visuals. So I built PrettyPost, a tool to instantly generate clean, beautiful screenshots of social media posts — without the hassle.

The Problem: Ugly Screenshots Hurt Great Content

The content might be gold — a smart take, a viral thought, a funny one-liner — but how it’s presented matters just as much.

What I kept seeing:

• Screenshots with weird cropping or UI glitches
• Low-resolution images that looked pixelated on mobile
• Random browser or phone elements included
• No consistency in branding, layout, or quality

Not only did these screenshots look bad, they lowered the perceived value of the content being shared.

In a world where attention is limited, design matters.

The Spark: A Tweet Worth Sharing (But Not Screenshotting)

The real moment came when I wanted to share one of my own tweets on LinkedIn.

I screenshotted it.
Cropped it.
Edited it manually.
Still hated it.

Then I thought: Why is this so hard?
There are tools for everything — but nothing simple for turning a post into a clean, polished image.

That’s when the idea for PrettyPost clicked.

I set out to build something with three goals:
